Providing certified, formal training is the best way to mitigate risks from employees using quad bike machinery at work.

What does the HSE say about quad bike safety at work?

The Health and Safety Executive has identified quad bikes as one of the highest-risk vehicles used by land-based organisations. The HSE strongly recommends that all operators are formally trained and have specific guidance on safe quad bike use in its agricultural safety programme.

What are the consequences for employers if an untrained worker is injured on a quad bike?

If a worker is injured while operating a quad bike and the employer cannot demonstrate that adequate training was provided, there is a risk of prosecution under HSE legislation. Course Information – ATV Quad Bike Training

This is a fully tailored training course, perfect for novice/trainee drivers and experienced attendees alike. It is a legal requirement to possess certification of training if you are using ATVs/Quad bikes for work purposes.

Experienced Quad Bike Drivers

Our one-day training course, accredited by LANTRA and meeting HSE requirements, assumes that all attendees have reasonable prior quad bike/ATV operating experience. If you are highly experienced, then attendees may wish to complete the assessment only, NPTC or LANTRA assessments are available.

Novice Quad Bike Drivers

The duration of our ATV training for novices depends on the number of people attending. Trainees are assumed to have limited experience in operating a quad bike. Novice training is up to 2 attendees from £295+VAT per person.

Novice/Mixed Ability Quad Bike Drivers

The Legal Bit

On average, two people die each year in ATV accidents. It is estimated that there are over 1,000 serious injuries per year from non-fatal quad bike accidents.

Anyone operating an ATV or quad bike for work purposes must be provided with training in its safe use. Sadly, this isn’t optional; whether you run a large organisation or you’re self-employed, it’s a legal requirement.

When operating an ATV on the public highway, it’s a legal requirement to possess a full UK driving license. It is a legal requirement to wear a suitable helmet when operating a sit-astride ATV for work, either on or off the public highway.

About our Quad Bike Training

We offer two All-Terrain Vehicle training courses throughout Wales, Devon, Dorset, Somerset & Avon, and the UK. Courses meet Health and Safety Executive requirements and are LANTRA accredited. We can also provide NPTC assessments if required. Our training is tailored to attendees' experience levels, and we can provide assessment-only sessions for very experienced operators.
