This LANTRA accredited course provides training on the safe and competent operation of wood chippers for anyone in a professional or working environment. This one-day course is available at any of our locations in the South West and Wales, or at your own location.

LANTRA Wood Chipper Training: Course information
Accidents and mistakes using wood chipping machinery and equipment often are the result of poor training, preparation and maintenance. HSE PUWER 98 requires that all employees should receive adequate training on wood chipping machinery if they are expected to use it in their work.
Who is this course for?
The training is suitable for anyone who will be using a wood chipper in their working role. This could be arborists and tree surgeons, estate and woodland management teams, farmers, contractors and municipal workers. The minimum age to attend this training is 16 years old.

The Legal Bit
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) states that employers must ensure that anyone operating machinery should be able to show they have been adequately trained by a professional instructor. LANTRA and NPTC training are both compliant with HSE requirements.
About the Hush Farms Wood Chipper Training
An exceptionally efficient way to process timber and brash on-site, wood chippers are also notoriously dangerous when mis-used. The force generated by feed rollers or chipping blades are strong enough to grab an operator faster than they can react.
This course focuses on the safe and effective use of wood chippers in a working environment. Knowing how to maintain machinery will ensure that blades and rollers are sharp and feed chutes are unblocked, preventing accidents from occurring. Training also covers the different types of timber and uses for wood chipping, and how they behave when fed into the equipment.
Wood chipper models vary between manufacturers, so we always refer to the handbook and tailor the learning to the equipment you will be using most. We are also flexible in terms of where we deliver the course; you can visit one of our training facilities, or we can come to you.
